East Second Street gets a bike lane

EVG regular Spike passes along this photo with news that East Second Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue now has a new bike lane...

... and apparently no one told this guy, spotted walking in the bike lane...

Also, no word just yet how this will impact the double parking on this block.

This new lane completes the ride from the Bleecker st bike lane to the protected bike lane on first avenue.
way more safer for me and my daughter .
    Thanks DOT !

  2. Call me old fashioned, but I love the double parking auto-ballet on street cleaning days. That said, hooray for more bike lane! Now if they could just fix the warzone-like potholes on 2nd b/w Bowery and 2nd Ave, if not for me, than so the Peels brunch line have something nicer to stare at!

  4. Fantastic! Another area for cyclists to ignore as they ride on the other side of the street / the wrong way / both.
