ReplyDeleteCertainly dangerous if there are cars approaching. If people use a little common sense, watch for oncoming traffic, they should be fine. All the time, pedestrians wander off the sidewalk onto the asphalt while completely distracted, and the streets are not exactly littered with casualities.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 9:50am. In Paris the bike stations are all NOT on the main street. They are on little side alleys or other places that are not as dangerous.
ReplyDeleteExactly! They should have put the bike stations in all the alleys in lower manhattan. Why didn't I think of that? There are tons of alleys all over - I know because I've seen them on every 80s and 90s movie set in NYC.

Would you prefer those people to get on the bus or train with you? Or worse, introduce another private vehicle?
Yes Citi sponsored it, who cares? There is advertising on every block in NYC. We benefit from having a news transportation option for no cost to the city.
Looking forward to the opening, a purchased an annual membership. I'm tired of having to take expensive cabs crosstown, which get stuck in traffic anyway along with the bus. The subways don't always go where I need yo either, not directly anyway. Not to mention occasional delays or slow late night service. Planning on utilizing this very frequently.
Just wanting to thank all the East Villagers and others for the great and numerous comments. I'm happy to see that people really want to get involved in having their voices heard. I appeal to all to continue in that effort and do more than just put up some words here- Get out attend some meetings and be seen!!! Touch the flesh and make the elected officials realize that they are working on your behalf and not for their own self serving, selfish purposes. I call upon each and every one of you to truly become a part of your community and begin guiding this place for what it is that we all seek. A place that allows us the freedoms offered to each of us under the great document of the constitution. It is time to rise up and take hold of this country once more before it becomes lost forever. The age of terminator and AI is not far off now. The current pullback on the drone program is only a way in which to launch it in a much greater more sophistcated

This is the first clearly visible giveaway of huge swaths of city land to a private enterprise.. wrong way to go!
That said let's make the best of a bad thing. So be it if our Mayor isn't interested in a program run by the city..throw the bum out.
These monstrosities are so much more aesthetically pleasing than 7-11s. In fact perhaps if they got 7-11 to sponsor this instead of one of the largest purveyors of the subprime crisis, these litlle musclemassless EV twits would scorn them.

An interesting comment. All the clauses make sense on their own, but if you put them together, they're gibberish. The bikes, which are already here, won't be installed for a year, so we can use them for only 4-5 months.
Let me just add that 4-5 = negative 1, which doesn't make any sense here and therefore fits the comment perfectly.
