Why does the ninth precinct allow yuppies to openly drink alcohol in Tompkins Square Park ? Time to Stop and Frisk some white people for a change.
ReplyDeleteSo sad that this noise is encouraged in our park. Too loud to talk, too loud to read, and it drives people out of our park. Meanwhile, about ten or fifteen people are paying attention to them.
ReplyDeleteThe definition of "yuppie" is now about as broad and amorphous as the definition of "hipster".
ReplyDeletepsm65 - I emphasize greatly, I can't use Washington Sq Park anymore, the 'musicians' start around 9 am and there is no corner of the park without some 'musicians' making a racket when I'd just like some calm...but there is also a tradition in Tompkins that musn't be lost. I suggest going up to 16th and 2nd - no music up there thankfully - no toilets either - I think they go together...
ReplyDeleteAs a 55 year old man I have to say I really enjoyed the 2 bands that i saw play. Yes I was around for the original punk bands and maybe the playlist lacked a little variety on Sunday but I was pleased to have come across yesterday. No I don't have tattoos, no I don't wear anarchy tees and yes you might look at me and think "preppie" but remember looks are deceiving and a true punk does not have to wear a costume to feel better about himself.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the variety of entertainment we get in Tompkins Square Park. For peace and quiet, I also enjoy the 35 community gardens in the area that are open to the public. Something for everyone.
