Here's the new-look 205 Avenue A with 2 additional floors

[January]

We've been noting that 205 Avenue A between East 12th Street and East 13th Street was getting a two-floor extension courtesy of developer Terrence Lowenberg and architect Ramy Issac.

And yesterday, workers removed the construction netting and scaffolding to reveal... a very Lowenberg-Issac-like building...

It's quite similar to the look of another recent joint venture — 326-328 E. Fourth St.

There aren't any listings yet for 205... so it's not clear yet whether they will be dormy side, like the apartments at 326-328 E. Fourth St. where there was a six-bedroom apartment listed for $8,000.

Previously on EV Grieve:
2 additional floors coming to 205 Avenue A; another Lowenberg-Issac production

205 Avenue A primed for 2 new floors

Is the under-renovation 205 Avenue A already too tall?

  1. Why why WHY the ass-ugly gray color?! Why couldn't they at least make it pretend-red brick, like the Schwimmer mansion, to blend in a little with the existing buildings? Sigh. But seriously, why do developers insist on these new buildings sticking out like a sore thumb?

  2. @ANon 8:31, I agree completely. It went from a pretty, welcoming, in-synch apricot and red to a menacing, hulking, cold, dark gray. Won't THAT look inviting in the winter. It's Grieve's fault - now all "architects" want to build their own version of the Death Star!

  3. I disagree I think the building looks elegant

compared to many of the new buildings here in EV
    this is welcomed addition

  4. The facade doesn't really matter. It's a class displacement issue. Icon Realty has made their mark. After knocking down historical buildings and all kinds of treacherous construction, illegal bullshit, illegal hotels and overall lack of regard for residents and the neighborhood, they went and sold a big chunk of their buildings to Jared Kushner Trump. Bad Karma.

  5. I think it looks pretty nice. Color isn't so fantastic but it seems to try and keep the charm of the EV in the building facade. It could certainly be a lot worse...

  6. Not so bad really. Give it a couple years to weather in a bit. Most any newly built and painted building appears to be a bit obtrusive next to older worn in facades.

  7. I think it looks A LOT better actually. The old brick was a mismatched grimy mess.

  8. Only complaints here!... at least it looks like a building and not a giant glass box.
