In the city
Sort of a tradition. The Specials and "Ghost Town" circa 1981.
Or, if you prefer to look at it this way ...

Two of faves. Ejjoy the 4th, Grieve!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the bonus video Grieve. I'll take Paul Weller banging on a 330 any day!
ReplyDeleteThat Specials tune takes me back to the early 80s. It really applies to the LES these days....
ReplyDeleteI saw the Jam circa early 1978 at Strathclyde University student union bar in Glasgow. Maybe couple of hundred people there max. Amazing gig. Paul Weller dodging flying cans of beer the whole time. People probably forget how the Jam were really considered as "punk royalty" along with the Pistols and the Clash back then. Not so much for their music but their attitude. Paul Weller had punk attitude in spades. Funnily enough I attended the Jam gig with Andy Innes who later became the lead guitar player for Primal Scream. He was in the same class as me at high school and a massive Jam fan at the time. Many thanks to the EvGrieve selector for digging out all these old videos over the last few months. You would make a great DJ.
ReplyDeleteIn the Specials video, isn't that the tunnel Diana died in?
