Why did Metropolitan City Market close early today?

Multiple readers have pointed out that the Metropolitan City Market (Met Foods) on Second Avenue closed around 3 today.

There's no sign on the door indicating a problem, like, say, emergency repairs on the AC units. Calls to the Market go unanswered. Maybe they closed early in honor of Canada Day?

Anyone hear anything?

  3. Temporarily. For him to be able to do what he's got to do.

  4. Ya know, I like that business model. This is the kind of community spirit that's going missing.

  5. There's no assistant manager? Do the workers get paid for the time they were closed?

  6. That's incorrect information - The owner's father had previously passed.

  7. I never liked the rebranding of what was a souped up bodega, yeah they prettied up the inside but jacked the prices way to much even for the white rose store brand and of course most of the new rich will pay for it... I walk the extra blocks to get a better selection of meats/fish at Key Food.
This place is literally for emergency milk and TP
