It's difficult to put together a decent compilation, especially so many years later, when so many have already been produced. In this case it's probably even harder, since they're limited by copyrights and user fees, artist refusal, the need to make the song fit the scene, etc.

Seems fine. Do you know if the band performance scenes in the movie were taken from actual footage when they were originally performed or recreated?
ReplyDeleteNot sure I like the sound of a 2013 version of Blondie's Sunday Girl. I'd rather hear a more original version (especially since CBGB was already no mas in 2013).

ReplyDeleteAs for absence of The Cramps, I don't really remember them at CB (though that's no surprise). I always saw them at mudd.
I think this is a very decent start, considering the copyright/licensing issues that they likely came up against.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty obvious that they had to work around licensing issues. Warner Music (at helm of Seymour Stein who signed the Ramones) owns the Ramones catalog. Interesting to me that they seemingly wouldn't cooperate with this project.
ReplyDeleteNo "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory" means there won't be a slow tracking shot down the stairs and through the doorways of CB's where the personalities of the movie fade away as the scene begins to unfold and die... What kind of conventional movie is this?!?
