Here is the CBGB movie trailer

The Hollywood Reporter had the exclusive first look today at the trailer for the CBGB biopic. After premiering at the CBGB Festival, the film opens Oct. 11 in New York, Los Angeles and other select cities. It was filmed in Savannah, Ga., on Broughton Street (on Paula Deen's block!) ... while the crew replicated the inside of the bar in Savannah's Meddin Studios, where all the interior shots took place...

So. What do you think of the trailer?

  1. It's the movie "Coyote Ugly", but with better music. I'll pass.

I could have done without Stink. Von LMO or James Chance and the Contortions would have given it some flavor.

Dear Buddha! What the hell is that? First Mary Help of Christians is torn down, now this. Nothing is sacred anymore. And Ashley Greene being there(listen to the way she talks) looks like it's a Girls episode -- where Dungham and Co. goes to that Met Punk show, not that I watch that other shite show; or Greene looks like where today's Bowery Girl rode the TARDIS and ended up then. Holy Vishnu mother of Xenu.

  5. . . . James Chance and the Contortions . . .

No kidding. At a glance, hey, I like the bands featured but, come on, part of the deal at CBGBs was that of the, oh, 30 band (5 x 7 days, more or less) that played there each week, there were a shitton of pretty good bands and the music was all over the place. Yeah, sure, Friday night was a big deal band but then Tuesday was the big deal band from Greensboro, and Wednesday was Butthole Surfers opening for Pylon, and Thursday was the Fans with six bands from Cleveland all related to Devo, and so on. Tossing in some great, great, great bands that hit their peak at GCGB and never quite made it is part of the deal. OTOH, Alan Rickman? Cool.

  6. Country music sucks, bro. Bluegrass too. Blues is okay. The blond chick is pretty hot.

  7. Die Soft (Die Hard, The Prequel): Hans Gruber Rises.

Do you really think you have a chance against us, Mr. Cowboy?

  8. Is that Snape? I'm not going to be able to get past that. Otherwise, remove all the Horatio Alger BS and it looks OK.

  9. The "actors" pretending to be Blondie, Iggy Pop, and Sting look like bubble gum glee clubees. NEXT!

  10. Yeah but Von Elmo almost never played cbgbs. They were a Max's band, for the most part.

  12. looks like a celebrity impersonators show in vegas. as if we're supposed to squeal with recognition as each cheeseball bewigged half-assed simulacrum takes the stage.

rickman (who i usually adore) isn't even TRYING to do an american accent. and the drawling acidic delivery is way more snape than hilly.

ashley greene doesn't sound like Girls. dunham et al are privileged bennington-y creatures. she's more random gum-chompy jersey/SI with that voice. do not get. do not like.

donal logue (who i also usually adore) can only do so much.

sometimes good movies have shit trailers. but i'm not hopeful here.

  16. very funny. Karen and Dana Kristal are whited out of the script. For god's sake, you could not go into cb ever without running into one or both of them.

Ashley Greene as Lisa? Well maybe if you knock off 200 lbs.
