The big crane returns to East 11th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B today to work on The Mary Spink Apartments. And, once again, residents next door have to be out of their homes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ...

The Mary Spink Apartments will one day be home to eight stories — 46 units — of affordable housing for formerly homeless and mentally disabled East Village residents.
Spink, a respected community activist, CB3 member and executive director of Lower East Side People’s Mutual Housing Association, died in January 2012 at age 64.

So, if this were my residence, how would the company reimburse me for loss of use of my home for that period?
ReplyDeleteThey are a for-profit business, I own or pay rent on my home,why should I be inconvenienced by them for nothing?
I live on the top floor and if a neighboring construction site asked me to vacate my apartment they would get a big fuck off from me unless they were carrying a check.
You would have been given a hotel room to assuage your greed, thats off course if you aren't at work at those time like the majority of people... or would one purposefully take off, looking for a pay day.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is looking for a pay day to expect to be compensated when you have to vacate your own house for who knows how many days or weeks. Where shall these people go all day, esp. if they work nights and have to get some shut-eye before work?
ReplyDeleteAlmost 9pm and construction has finally stopped here on East 11th Street. Two cranes and a flatbed truck worked loud and proud all day into the night. I hope my fellow neighbors have been filing complaints like I have.
