  3. Painful to see. Whether one belongs to a particular religious institution or not, seeing sacred places disappear and typically be replaced by the most trivial forms of consumerism is a tragedy.

  4. What a melancholy, and so unnecessary, scene. I went by there this morning; the gate was open and I asked one of the workmen for a brick, so at least, when all the rubble is gone and the piece of modern shit has taken the place of a lovely old church, there will still be a little bit of Mary Help of Christians in the East Village...
