Wow. The last time I saw that many old white guys in one place was when Television regrouped to play at Irving Plaza! (Yes, I was there.)
ReplyDeleteMick Jones, Bob Gruen, Jarmusch, Hamdsome Dick - No pictures?
ReplyDeleteNo Handsome Dick pics?
Mick Jones is in Gregg's photo and in Slum Goddess' video... I linked to a Jarmusch photo... I didn't have any photos with Bob or Richard.
ReplyDeleteI tell ya, last night was one of the most fun nights in the EV in a long time.
ReplyDelete1. Someone said they hadn't seen that much leather since the S&M raids in the 70's.
2. Some twenty-something yunnie came by blurting:
"OMG, what is all this?"
"It's the Joe Strummer mural unveiling"
"Who is Joe Strummer?"
"Guy from The Clash."
"OMG, when does Joe get here?"
I haven't laughed that hard in ages.
That was fun!
ReplyDeleteanyone knows where they hang out or stay? i missed the event and would like to have my records signed by mick! did he leave nyc already???

ReplyDeleteI thought I heard him ask if he should stay or he should go.
It is fascinating to me that all these people showed-up for this mural, yet less than 1/2 this number showed-up at the Save Mary Help of Christians Rally a few months ago. This is also triple the number that showed up to the Save Cabrini Nursing Home Rally a little over 1 year ago.
ReplyDeletePriorities I guess.
He went to get a vampire biscuit!
ReplyDeleteSorry I couldn't be there, I was over at Mary Help of Christians church.
ReplyDeleteHow can you save a building sold by its owners?
ReplyDeleteIt is fascinating to me that more people showed up lining up for the new iPhones and the cronut concrete at Shake Shack and everyday to get cronuts, and more people show up every weekend to get drunk and woooo around the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteI was at the farmers market last sunday and I heard a young guy (late 20's ?) say out loud "who is Joe Strummer"? I could not resist but educate him. His father was there and he was perhaps too old to have been a Clash fan. I told him if there are 10 must have albums to own "London Calling" should be one of them.
