And now, 18 photos of dogs in Halloween costumes
The 23rd annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade took place this afternoon... and EVG contributor Stacie Joy was there to take a lot of photos... A sampling of this year's costumes...

Great photos!
ReplyDeleteI have 21 not as great ones!
ReplyDeleteNew York brings it! But no Amanda Bynes?
ReplyDeleteThere is just something about owners getting all excited to dress their dogs up and the confused look on the dogs faces that is hilarious to me. It was like a circus of cuteness in there.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that's so great about this event is how many people from my area participate.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually from Riverdale and every year rain or shine I love to come to Thomson Square Park for the event. I also like to attend the Westminster Dog Show as well as the Kentucky Derby.
Riverdale in the Bronx(population: 47,850, according to the 2000 U.S. Census)is an affluent residential neighborhood in the northwest portion of the Bronx in New York City. Riverdale contains the northernmost point in New York City.
And we who patronize "Thomson" Square Park are ever so grateful for your visit from so far north of the city, my Lady (or is that Lord) of comment 12:17PM?
ReplyDeleteIt must have been quite a funny shock to your esteemed personage to have witnessed the quirky goings on in Thomson Square Park during your stay.
Do come back soon won't you? That is, if your Ladyship isn't too bound by your social duties at Westminster or the Derby.
I suppose the pontification the geography and demographics of Riverdale is to show that neighborhood's affluence. But as Lady Riverdale connotes, The "Thomson" Square Halloween Dog Parade is now equivalent to the Westminster Dog Show and Kentucky Derby, i.e. it has become an overtly [satirical] look at the cultural trends and norms of the bourgeois New York City.
ReplyDeleteThere's a picture in today's Post of a Zoltar dog that was there yesterday!
ReplyDeleteAnd duh, I should have maybe scrolled down to see your awesome post about Zoltar before I commented. ;)
ReplyDeleteThomsons>Riverdale!
ReplyDeleteThe snarky nature of the East Villager comes out, the compliment however lame was a compliment. I think the thread may actually be a goof whatever the Halloween party is enjoyed by many and shows Manhattan residents love their dogs and barely can tolerate each other
ReplyDeleteIt is in the Riverdalepress every year.
ReplyDeleteWhile I was leaving the East Village yesterday I saw people driving into the East Village with their dogs in the back seat, costumes hanging on the hook.

The media attention is deliberated by real estate developers, restauranteurs, hoteliers, luxury condo owners and others.
ReplyDeleteI even know people who live here who call it "Thompson" Square Park. Maybe the new overly-legible street signs will change all that—if they're not stolen first.
ReplyDeleteEden -- I very much enjoyed your photos too!
ReplyDeleteOscar and Tiki were there :) http://www.buzzfeed.com/cmerry/wheelchair-dog-has-a-sweet-halloween-costume-40g7
