Lui's Thai food coming soon to East 4th Street
Matt Rosen passes along word that a new Thai restaurant called Lui's is opening on East Fourth Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue... in the space that last housed Pinisi Cafe & Bakery. Don't know anything else about Lui's just at the moment.

They misspelled Taco!
ReplyDeleteThey should bring back Borobudur here, there is enough Thai food already,
ReplyDelete@Fuego - I still have the old Borobodur takeout menu, every now and then I look at it and think about how much I miss that place.
ReplyDeleteI really miss Pinisi.. loved going there and getting a cupcake. Just 3 years ago there were two Pinisi's now they're gone.
ReplyDeleteBorobodur was weird, went through about 4 complete staff changes when they were here. The first was the best, I think. The cook was a lady originally from Yogyakarta. I forget her name - Bu Wati? Wuti? She's retired and living in Chicago, I assume not because of the climate there. The next group was from Jakarta. I don't know anything about them but the food was still good (although a different style). The next 2 groups weren't quite as good but still pretty good. The hand-off to Pinisi was oddly gradual, but there wasn't much distinctively Indonesian about that place.
