They really need to do something about upgrading the food - ate there a few weeks ago, and while I was not expecting fine dining, literally everything I got was horrendous. My dining companions had the same reaction, and we left 3/4 of everything on the table. I've eaten there for 30 years, and it's never been this bad.

ReplyDeleteThen we did not have the same people in the kitchen. As I said, all four of us agreed that the meal was abominable, it wasn't just me.
ReplyDeleteI had breakfast there this week, and it was great. I love the atmosphere, and the people who work there, especially the lovely waitress on the morning shift.
ReplyDeleteFor $8 bucks I get two eggs poached in a cup, home fries, white toast, orange juice, and all night conversations about Greek and American politics.

P.S. Try the roast turkey entree for a great taste of Thanksgiving all year round!
Odessa's food is passable, at best. In the way of Greek diners, Astor Riviera was, and Galaxy Diner are, far superior.

ReplyDeleteThe food in Odessa has been in steady decline for about 12 years, literally falling off a cliff the last 8 or so. For a guy that used to eat here at least 4 times a week since about 1990 thru 2006 or so, wow food has just become a disgrace. Trust me my standards are not very high. I will choose McDonalds breakfast over this place every time these days. Just out of old love I give them a fresh chance once every other month or so, and am sorry I did so every single time. You'd think eggs over easy and sausage is a no-brainer for a diner, they find a way to foul it up every time. Sorry to have to report this true tragedy.
ReplyDeleteBy the way this particular guy tends toward the rude and unpleasant. I have often attributed the generally empty state of the diner to him. I have come to assume they must own the building or have some longterm sweetheart deal, how can this empty place pay the rent?
I remember when it was full, happy, and delicious.
Leshko's was always better than this place. Their food is never anything but awful.
