The EVG Election Night Central Headquarters

[Photo yesterday at an East Village polling station by Grant Shaffer]

Hey, Bill De Blasio won. He takes office on Jan. 1 as the 109th NYC mayor.

Also elected: Letitia James for public advocate and Scott Stringer as comptroller. Rosie Mendez too.

And, likely unrelated to Election Night, the Knicks lost.

Anyway, I just really wanted to post the above photo from Grant.

Jeremiah Moss has more on De Blasio's landslide victory and "20 years of living under the thumbs of the cops and the billionaires" at Vanishing New York.

  1. When is Mendez going to be term limited out of "office"?
As for DeBlasio, he's a socialist lowlife.
NYC needs less government, not more.

  2. the city does not need government.
but the residents certainly do. as do the tourists, the visitors and students who positively need something.
and they could also use a few manners, consideration for others, perhaps some patience, and some noise control.

Ha ha 9:38 AM, tough luck! But electing "socialistic lowlifes" is what us poor schmucks do sometimes when our overlords overreach a tad too far. And they didn't even bother to put on a dog and pony show whilst they rewrote the rules to keep one of their own on the throne for a third term.

And come on, real estate and finance titans! You should have put covered up a little during your 20 year orgy! Us commoners have kind of delicate sensibilities, we do.

  4. Stoopid socialist tourist sheeple. Ah, for the day when rugged individualist Real New Yorkers survived on a diet of pure rat shit and live insects, rode their bikes in the lane-less streets and died in the gutter like men!

  5. Rosie spoke against Bloomie's buying himself a third term, but of course when she had the opportunity to do exactly the same thing, she dove for it with the ferocity of a starving man seeing a Katz's pastrami sandwich. Nothing like a good dose of hypocrisy in our elected officials. So now she has four more years of doing basically nothing on our dime.

  7. @Anon 1:05 PM - You must have been one of those rich boys. We couldn't afford pure rat shit or live insects. F'ing capitalist! Imperialist lackey!
