Something rather unexpected is opening on Avenue B (hint: not a bar)
So, yeah — there's a new tenant for the former M&M Variety Hardware at 8-10 Avenue B near East Houston… Top Notch Security — "a growing locksmith, security and home automation company." (Check out their website here. BE PREPARED FOR THE GUNSHOTS!)
EVG regular Salim shared these photos… it appears that Top Notch is not quite open for business…
Back in November, Cantina LES, a sit-down Mexican restaurant, was on the CB3/SLA agenda for a liquor license at this address. We're honestly not sure what happened with this applicant — aside from that they won't be opening here.

Someone has to install and maintain all those smoke bubbles I notice on almost every building. Do you think you have any privacy rights to those recordings? Say you come home with a minor celebrity, happens all the time to me, does the landlord have the right to make public or even profit from those recordings? The world gets worse and worse.

I would've accepted an over priced diner.. these people are not a neighborly choice for sure
Weird business.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm being watched.
As for "Cantina LES" that could possibly be the same spot that opened on Orchard and Stanton corner.
I walked by this last night and almost emailed you about it, the lobby or whatever is very strange. I feel like when you walk in, James Rebhorn should walk out and greet you...

You goals are not "clearly defined," foolios; you just say the same vague shit worded slightly differently.
Anyway, I'm thinking that with luxury housing comes buildings/people that require this type of service. Fine folks like Ben Shaoul.
Building resident petitioned against Cantina LES. Community board denied full liquor license. Mexican food with no tequila = no margaritas = not a Mexican restaurant.
ReplyDeleteI almost rented this space for La Sirena..............
