The E Smoke Shop is cooking now!
[Feb. 15]
The rest of the signage for the all-new E Smoke Shop on the corner of Third Avenue and St. Mark's Place went up yesterday… The transformation of the former New Corner Magazine (or King's Magazine) is, apparently, complete…
Wait till you see it at night!

Your remarks and lively debates are welcome, whether supportive or critical of the views herein. Your articulate, well-informed remarks that are relevant to an article are welcome.
However, commentary that is intended to "flame" or attack, that contains violence, racist comments and potential libel will not be published. Facts are helpful.
If you'd like to make personal attacks and libelous claims against people and businesses, then you may do so on your own social media accounts. Also, comments predicting when a new business will close ("I give it six weeks") will not be approved.
And in keeping with the trend, it looks like glitzy crap.
ReplyDeleteI like the big red arrow to the atm. You should learn to draw your red arrows just like that, grieve!
ReplyDeleteThis new look is a blight on the street, far more offensive to residents than existing dilapidated but warm and timeless warren that served nonstop streams of customers all day and all night, and way more head shop than newsstand. You say you spoke to the landlord-who is that and what other properties does (s)he own? I ask because this corner with its adjacent low rise decaying structures seems ripe for another tear down and replacement with ungainly narrow high rise. Would also be great if you could do some sleuthing as to ownership of properties on east side Fourth Avenue between Ninth and Tenth Street and around both corners where there is a mélange of long boarded up space, badly neglected buildings, at least one long vacant storefront and single story dry cleaner (Chris) that seems equally ripe for wholesale replacement/destruction/development. Does Chris own their lot? And who owns the building two lots up where the kids' store now next to Strand set up briefly now unoccupied for a decade and seemingly set to collapse on itself?
ReplyDeleteHmmmm.....it's just happenstance that they feature "vaporizer" on the very top/front of signage.....
ReplyDelete......or have they surreptitiously been visiting this blog?
Hmmmmm......
:+)
Don't like it at all. Watson will not be happy!
ReplyDeleteAnybody know what he E stands for?
