7A 2.0 looks to keep the sidewalk cafe
We don't know many, if any, details about the new version of 7A, the Avenue A mainstay now sitting empty since it closed on on Jan. 26.
CB3 documents show that Paul Salmon, one of the restaurateurs behind Miss Lily's, the Jamaican bar and restaurant on West Houston, and Joe's Pub, will be overseeing the new restaurant's day-to-day operations.
Here's one thing we know, though: New management plans to keep the sidewalk cafe. There's a notice about a public hearing to continue with it next Wednesday...
Not sure who'd oppose this. Maybe residents living in the pricy new penthouses upstairs?

Please also keep the turkey club sandwich.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
I was never a big fan of 7a, the food was mediocre and the service was not stellar, that said, they were a fixture!! So many places I've loved or not are vanishing at an alarming rate! I long for the days when these frat rats wouldn't dare come past 2nd ave! Oh well!!
ReplyDeleteThese new restaurants are not for the frat boys. This is for all the new rich folk and hip folks storming the hood now. Few more years the fratties will be gone and the nieghborhood will be a playground for the rich.
ReplyDeleteYour club sandwich will not be saved. Miss Liliys is pricey and hard to get a reservation, forget about a walk in even in the middle of the week. Paul salmon also owns Rock House hotel in Jamaica, the island, not Queens, and also used to own that large-ish restaurant across from joes pub whose name escapes me, it had a lounge in the basement that had music and comedy.in other words, trendy stuff. Also, he's Australian.
ReplyDeleteRaccoon is dead on. Its not NYU Frat boys anymore in the hood. Its YUPpies.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 8:35pm One can dream, can't I?
ReplyDeleteHaving dined at both Miss Lily's and also The Rockhouse Hotel in Jamaica (yeah, the island, not Queens)I can confirm that much higher-priced fare will be the order of the day at 7A.
