A drive by Mousey's Bar on Avenue C in 1976

George Cohen shares another photo with us.

I took this from the taxi I was driving. I saw Mousey's Bar, a little island in a pile of rubble, i.e. Avenue C and 13th St. in 1976.

As I raised my camera to my eye, this guy comes to the door, sees me and grabs his crotch.

That was the shot.

Indeed.

Today, Campos Plaza stands at this location.

As for Mousey's ... according to Jimmy Peanuts, Mousey's had the best stickball team of any bar in the neighborhood.

  4. Most amazing thing about that shot is, how clean the street is.

  7. I lived on 14th between B & C. 1975-6 ..went in there for a beer a few times.. I was a bike messenger my rent was $175.00 a month and I split it with another messenger 👍. I was told. it used to be a speakeasy..the elaborate bathroom's downstairs were the last remnant of that 👍

  8. I lived in Stuyvesant town as a kid
,Ave B and this was one of the dives we had another was The Blarney Cove on 14th between Avenues B and A ,
It was so thin and narrow it was difficult to pass by someone at the bar. I’d like to do an oil painting if you wouldn’t mind .
