Exit flagger

The flag man directing traffic at the construction site along 185-193 Avenue B waved the black SUV through the red light, according to witnesses, where it was promptly hit by another car at East 12th Street …

Meanwhile, the construction crew is pouring concrete at night without lights for the 7-story mixed-used residential building.

Thanks to EVG Facebook friend Derrick Loris for the photos.

  2. Do flag guys at construction sites have the legal right to direct traffic? I live on 12th street and heard this crash but was not sure if it was just another loud noise coming from a noisy as hell construction site. Yes they were pouring concrete well after dark last night with the crew doing a 12+ day.

  4. Was just up Avenue B a half-block and heard the crash / saw the immediate aftermath.

The driver of the SUV (guy in the white-ish shirt) was furious at the construction guy directing traffic. I can't say for sure what happened, but I'd completely believe that the construction guy helped cause the accident.

I saw a few people give the guy in white a business card, so hopefully he's able to get the eyewitness backup he'll probably need for his insurance.
