For whom the plot tolls

Yesterday morning, city crews arrived on East 11th Street just east of First Avenue... jackhammered up part of the sidewalk in front of Reciprocal Skateboards, filled it with dirt... and moved on...

Greg Matherly at Reciprocal Skateboards, who shared these photos, noted the arrival of a makeshift cross ... to give it a fresh grave look, perhaps in honor of Halloween...

And for some local reaction to the new plot...

As for what's next, probably a new tree.

By the way, the site of the cemetery of Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral was once across the street. The graveyard was moved to Calvary Cemetery in Queens in 1909.

Here's a map from 1867...

Yeah, we should set an age limit for doing things we enjoy. For starters, comment trolling.

  5. Last I heard there was freedom of speech in the USA. You must be part of ISIS. Skateboarding is for kids. Adults who skateboard won't grow the fuck up. Put on some long pants and grow a pair.

    1. You tell 'em! Fun is for kids! Those adults on skateboards don't have jobs, families, or pay taxes, I'm sure, what with all that time spent outdoors. ISIS agents! Communists! Maybe even Redcoats!

    2. You might be right, but one point of clarification... please send photo of NYC street skater wearing shorts. I am not sure I know what you're referring to.

    1. Why thank you very much! The flowers really took it from Halloweeny, to tragedy. Made for amazing reactions. One person said, "well, at least that will stop people from letting their dogs poop there." I agreed. The dude on the block that never picks up the poo from his two dogs, did not agree, but found it quite a convenience. Good ol' NYC will always find a way to stay good ol' NYC.

And I will pass along the thumbs-up to the skater. He's the talent. I just tend to the grave.
