Gingersnap's Organic is leaving the East Village for the West Village

The vegan, gluten free and raw food specialists will be closing up their nearly 3-year-old home at 130 E. Seventh St. later this week ahead a move to the West Village.

Per an email that they sent:

We're taking Gingersnap's across the great island of Manhattan and are opening a WEST VILLAGE location! We're sad to see our East Village spot go, but with all the space we're gaining in the new spot, we'll be better able to serve ALL of our customers!

To keep you feeling your best, this location will have an expanded smoothie menu with special elixir shots, more options at the coffee bar, warm soups, a greater breakfast selection, and much more!

Gingersnap's fans can find the new storefront — described as more of a "juice-bar-meets-coffee-shop" — at 113 W. 10th St., between Sixth Avenue and Greenwich.

And East Village customers can still get delivery via Seamless.

Prior to Gingersnap's, the storefront just west of Avenue A was home to Mikey's Pet Shop ...

  1. I've only ever seen a few people in the gluten free place, the scaffolding was up a long time, and I think it discouraged traffic, plus, I believe gluten / grain free may be appropriate for some people, but so many people love real bread, including gluten, and bacon! I don't think I ever set foot inside. Truth be told, I think gluten free is bullshit and tastes like shit. I do however realize some people have celiacs and other diseases where these foods should be avoided. Hopefully something else nice will come along in that spot.

  2. Wanna bet that Miss Lilly's that took over 7A snaps it up, so they can pack more trendoids in for their mediocre over-priced Carib food.

  3. I was sad when that pet shop closed and I don't even have a pet. Gingersnap's had a great, healthy menu but it was so overpriced that I never went in there.

  4. Good. Places like this should leave the EV. Maybe a real business that serves real people can move in.

  6. Happy to have great vegan food in the neighborhood but honestly I found this place so expensive. Even knowing that organic, etc isn't going to be cheap it was a fortune...

  7. The food is excellent. Their thing was raw food (not gluten free) and grains have to be cooked so it's made out of other types of plants. They did a great job with it, lots of flavor and texture. The portions look tiny but it's amazing how full you get from raw food, it's very dense.
