A reader shared this from along First Avenue between East Fifth Street and East Sixth Street… What should we do with this information? Turn around?

    Originally the message was rendered in the Data 70 font, which we old folks remember from 70s sci-fi movies and graphics. Another tagger was rude enough to completely obscure the original stencil. So i guess it was reworked with sloppy white letters as a push back. This graffito is by OTTO.

    Turn around? I wish I could. There would be no cell phone or texting zombies, among many other things, to tolerate.

    This same sentiment appeared spray-stenciled in the futuristic 'checkbook' font on a building if I recall correctly, on 7th street near Ave A about four or five years ago. I'm glad it's turning up again. I totally agree and I'm glad I'm not alone! The thought is right on the money. When you think about it, what era of the East Village or New York, or popular culture for that matter would you rather live in? The past or 'the future'?

    Yeah...that's right. The future totally fucking sucks!
