You can almost smell the stench of NYC summer in these photos. The overflowing trash, the filthy gum-stained sidewalks, the festering standing "water" due to lack of proper sewer drains, a primordial soup which should be carefully studied by scientists as freakish microbial life is probably evolving right there right now.
I think, in the tradition of great 1950s horror movies, the movie will also need an older scientist with a beautiful daughter to be a love interest for Mark Ruffalo. So let's see. Older scientist - I'd go with Harvey Keitel. Beautiful daughter - Scarlett Johansson, NYC-born and raised. And for comic relief, Al Pacino as, well, pretty much anyone. (Please note, I love Al, no shade intended.)
Who else? Someone find a part for Vincent D'Onofrio, please!
Since its an East Village production lets cast some EV talent:
Helen Mirren as the Rat Queen (since shes good at playng Quens and already has the right accent) David Schwimmer as himself, since he's scary enough already Rosario Dawson as The Squatter Luis Guzman as the leader of the Rat Patrol Reverend Billy as The Reverend Amanda Bynes as the damsel in distress Jimmy Fallon as the comedian with 9 fingers (following his "mysterious accident" this week) Jimmy "the rent is too damn high" McMillan as The Exterminator And Ben Shaoul as the evil investor who belives he can turn te EV into an adventure park full of giant rats, who then proceed to eat him alive.

Hey Gaga, the Hamptons are that way.

ReplyDeleteSummer in the city....
- East Villager
When oh when are we gonna get a proper giant mutant rats in NYC movie?
ReplyDeleteGive me your starring cast - go!
Christopher Walken as the mad scientist who feeds rats, causing them to become huge.
ReplyDeleteMark Ruffalo as the do-gooder scientist who is trying to save the city.
Julianna Margulies as Walken's partner in crime...
I'll stop here and wait for more suggestions... should be an EVG group effort!
Soundtrack? Depends. If set in the late 70s/early 80s, then all from the great bands of Bowery's Lost Parthenon...
;-)

D'Onofrio for mayor of NYC... (?)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking maybe more of an homage to C.H.U.D. with a John Heard-Daniel Stern reunion…
