:( How did this little cutie get out? I hope they find him...
ReplyDeleteHaving a cat is like having a child. They are beloved members of the family.
Having a cat is nothing like having a child. Have you ever heard anyone say "Having a child is like having a cat."?
ReplyDelete@ 10:19 I'd also add that people who have lost children have never said "It's horrible. Losing a child is just like losing a cat."
ReplyDeleteNo sense in trying to win Top Your Trauma. The owners of this cat are probably frantic with worry, so let's keep our eyes open for the critter. I think that's the point here.
ReplyDeleteThis is directed to the individual who responded to my first comment.
ReplyDeleteWhat I meant to say and perhaps I didn't say it well is that having a cat is quite similar to having a child. While they certainly are not a human being or offspring, they are a living being, completely reliant on you for everything, who love unconditionally, who are integrated as part of your daily life. I am sorry you found it necessary to be rude and insensitive. Instead of being negative, why not offer something positive to say or offer in helping find the cat. Clearly, you are a jerk.
Being a "Crazy Cat Lady" Cat Mom myself, thank you for that!!!
DeleteAnonymous 10:30, Excellent point!
ReplyDeleteI do so enjoy it when arrogant mummy mafia types tell me how I do and do not feel about my pet. Unless you have some kind of telepathic powers do not presume to tell me that my dog is less important to me than your human child is to you. It's just rude and unnecessary.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 11:59 - I know who you are -- you're that typing dog I read about recently! Of course your puppy is important to you!
ReplyDeleteMy cats are my children. You don't know me and you don't know what my cats have been through. Ugh, you human parents with your weird superiority complexes. All you did was procreate. Congratulations, cave folk.
ReplyDeleteCupid is precious and I hope that he's been found. Also, how sweet is the name Cupid?
Yeah, carrying someone inside you for 40 weeks is the same as stopping off at the pet store on the way home and buying a kitten.
ReplyDeleteRude and unnecessary. Why the desperate need to put pet owners in their "place"? Why the need to "win" the "my sprog is more important than your furbaby" contest? You can't know how other people feel. Why so threatened that someone might treasure their dog as much as you treasure your kid? What does that take away from you? You sound like a mean person.
ReplyDeleteIt's totally valid to call bullshit on something that's transparently bullshit. Sort of like if you go around saying that the moon is made of cheese, don't be surprised when someone tells you "No it isn't. Stop talking nonsense."
ReplyDeleteSorry, talk to your cat or dog all you want. But your pet doesn't understand you and will never be able to have a conversation with you. If you think otherwise, you literally need a mental health intervention.
Go ahead and dress your dog or cat up like a son or daughter if you want (I bet you do!). It doesn't turn them into a person. But if you think your dog or cat's life is more important than a person's, again you need mental health authorities to intervene. Your cats or dogs are your pets. Not your children. Nothing wrong with having a pet and loving it very much. It's a very positive thing, no question. But that doesn't transform it into a child. If you don't understand that, I'd really recommend professional intervention.
Wow. Just wow. Nowhere did I say that one life is more important than another. Nowhere did I say a dog is the same as a child or that you can have a conversation with a pet or that I think loving your pet and considering her part of the family transforms it into a child. You made all of that up. No I don't put dresses on my dog or have a mental illness but thanks for the attempt at shaming me. Saying that you love your pet, that she's a member of the family and having your pet go missing is "like" (look the word up-it doesn't mean the "same") losing a child isn't saying any of those things you pretended that I said. My point is, and nothing you just ranted on refutes it, is that you don't know how individual people feel about their pets. You can't possibly unless you are God or telepathic. You don't know what is in my heart and mind and I don't know what's in yours. So don't tell anyone they don't care about their pet as much as you care about your child. I simply don't understand why it's so important to you to try and do so.
ReplyDeleteI didn't "buy" my cats, 1:29. I donated a good sum to their very amazing rescue organization, Angellicle Cats, whose all-volunteer staff rescues abandoned and abused cats. And the idea of carrying some fetus in my body for 40 weeks is, honestly, disgusting. Like, Alien-chest-burster levels of gross. And I truly like kids. They're funny and cute. I even like teenagers! But parenthood is not for everyone, and pregnancy is terrifying. And children are expensive, and they force one to be involved with asshole adult humans, like parents and teachers and parole officers. No thanks.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who thinks my cats aren't my kids should meet my cats. They love their mommy, and they are tiny tabby angels. #catlady4lyfe
Wow. I can't believe the mean assholes on this thread who find it appropriate to distinguish how having a child is more important. Instead of pointing fingers to whose life and circumstances are more important, we should be focusing on how to help this little, sweet kitty find its way back to his owners. What is wrong with all of you who enjoy being a bullies? You should be ashamed of yourselves.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to say that Cupid has been returned to his owner as of yesterday. He was found in Chinatown by the foot of the Manhattan Bridge.
ReplyDeleteFantastic news. So glad to hear :)
ReplyDeleteCupid! You little maniac! Why were you so far from home?? Anyway I'm so happy that your people have their baby back. Don't run away again you little nut! I know it's fun to explore but it's a scary world out there.
