99¢ Pizza now serving 99¢ pizza on Avenue A

The discount pizzeria had its Grand Opening last evening here at 91 Avenue A at East Sixth Street.

The pizzeria is operating out of the space that last housed Benny's to-go. Not sure what's going on with the former D-Lish Pita storefront next door. There has been some work done on that space as well.

Meantime, let us know if you try this pizza. (Seriously.) We'll also post a night-time photo of the storefront some time. It is quite bright. (Seriously.)

  1. A cheap slice u can put hot sauce on, fold over, and be on your way is very important to NY. But its just absurd when these places are in such close proximity to one another with one already 3 blocks north on A.

  2. Yay! Now Crusties won't have to crawl all the way to St. Marks.

  4. The pizza is ok.. slightly thicker crust than a normal 99 cent place, and its not greasy at all, so that helps.

The guy behind the counter said the falafel place was going to be a grocer or a smoke shop. Hopefully it will put the drug bodega a few doors down out of business

Sorry to sound so moralizing, but it would be better to practice your technique than to blame the pizza for your lousy aim.

  9. The awning is fine, though bright, but the two other poorly designed, cheaply made additional signs that stick out are a huge eyesore! Such a bummer.
