The Sock Man extends his last day to tomorrow (Saturday!)

In case you wanted to make one last stop at the Sock Man on St. Mark's Place between Second Avenue and Third Avenue... he extended his last day to tomorrow afternoon...

We first reported on Jan. 7 that the nearly 33-year-old shop would be closing. Owner Marty Rosen is apparently facing an unmanageable rent hike from new landlord Raphael Toledano.

  1. Despite Chloe Sevigney calling Marty the grumpiest vendor in New York, he is actually a very nice guy and I'm sorry Toledano is raising his rent. Another piece of St. Marks' gone.

  2. I can't speak to anyone else's experience--but I've been shopping there for years, and had nothing but pleasant experiences. And service was always with a smile. Hope that a more congenial landlord can provide an affordable space.

  3. @ 9:40 pm +1 ...was just there. Nice people and great socks. Hope they find a spot nearby!
