Superiority Burger is now open for lunch (except on Tuesdays, when they are not open at all)
The quick-serve vegetarian restaurant at 430 E. Ninth St. between Avenue A and First Avenue was previously only open for a few hours (6-10 p.m.) in the evening.
Now, though — they will start serving at 11:30 a.m.
Superiority Burger opened last June 25 to very favorable reviews for its namesake veggie burgers and a changing array of side dishes.

This is great, the late opening kept me from trying it a few times when it was on my mind to do so.
ReplyDeleteDarn! Tuesday is the only day I can get out for lunch.
ReplyDeleteThe boys of biscuits should follow suit, but in reverse, just be open on Tuesdays and closed the rest of the week. and rename their business inferiority [complex] biscuits.
ReplyDeleteHad it once and still don't understand the hype of this burger place...
ReplyDeleteI didn't like them much when they first opened, but after going back a few times recently I've fallen for their superiority burger and daily specials.
ReplyDeleteWhat?! Closed Tuesdays?! TUESDAYS?!?! Tuesdays are the only days I ever leave the house. What about me and my burger needs?! Just GREAT!!! Trump Burgers is more like it!!!
ReplyDeleteSo now more people will be sitting on my stoop, on the sidewalk in front of my building and on the tree in front of my building. These folks are now expanding their hours without expanding their space and using the sidewalk which belongs to pedestrians not their business. Not good neighbors these folks.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get the fuss either. Tasted okay and the mushy texture was a disappointment. I figured a hyped up veggie burger would have a more satisfying bite. I've had better ones at non-speciality, non-superior places. The burned broccoli was so strongly flavored that the whole portion couldn't be eaten--probably my fault for ordering something called burned broccoli though. Sorry for the yelp review. :(
ReplyDeleteI love this place and the staff are the friendliest ever. Can't wait till it's warm enough to take my Sloppy Dave to the park for lunch!
ReplyDeleteI love how you guys complain about EVERYTHING. If a store does well "more people in front of my building" if a store goes out of business then you complain about the greedy landlords.....
ReplyDelete@6:58 PM. Try the burger again. It's lost its mushiness and seems to have more taste. The frozen desserts are very good too, as you might expect from someone who was the pastry chef and Del Posto.
ReplyDelete@5:41 PM: A successful business is going to generate crowds, be it Big Gay, Momofuku Noodle Bar, or Ippudo. Superiority might be more of a problem because it is a small space and customers can eat outside. But if the commotion is ending at a reasonable hour, I consider that the price of living in the E.V. He's not selling drugs. He's selling vegetables and grains.
> I love how you guys complain about EVERYTHING
ReplyDeleteI ain't got enythin bettah to do.
I love how 8:15pm and 9:05pm are so cavalier about the stoop, sidewalk, and tree which according to 5:41pm has been overrun by this place's customers. Maybe you wouldn't find it annoying to have to wade through people to get in and out of your building but I'm guessing 5:41pm would and here's a thought: maybe 5:41pm wants to sit on the stoop of a building he/she is paying rent to live in and doesn't want to share the stoop with those who don't live in the building. Maybe 5:41pm doesn't want to get into a possible fight with a drunk or sober belligerent SB customer asshole for asking him/her to move so (5:41pm) can get into and out of his/her building.
ReplyDeleteSuperiority Burger should move to a bigger space which can facilitate their foot traffic and be ticketed for their customers loitering on private property (the stoop) and blocking the sidewalk.
'Love you self-titled hipsters who think this is YOUR city when it isn't. 5:41pm I urge you to complain not only to Superiority Burger but their landlord, the Community Board, and the Ninth Precinct. Perhaps you could install a tree guard to prevent people from sitting on the tree which is some dumb shit behavior. Leave the tree alone! Also complain to your landlord who's job is to keep the stoop free of loiterers - perhaps he could install a gate.
yum!
ReplyDeletethis will reduce that clamor that is bothering you and provide a nice, chill, delicious and healthy bite.
I like this place because it reminds me of the east village and is delicious.
Try the sides...it's all about the sides. And dessert...oh man.
ReplyDeleteRE: foot traffic. it's an interesting problem. Who's responsibility is it? The business...the customers...CB3...the police. My experience...things have a way of dying down after a while.
Wading through crowds is definitely one of life's great trials. It's the reason why I moved to Manhattan.
