The return of the 'White Negro' tag
EVG reader Ronnie shared this photo from earlier today on East Fifth Street at Avenue B.
We don't recall seeing this tag since the spring of 2009, when it started showing up on walls around the neighborhood.

I'll start tagging the EV with 'Black White Privileged'.
ReplyDeleteLooks like "WHITE VEGRO" to me. I assume it's an attempt at guerilla marketing for plant food.
ReplyDeleteChocolate Honkey is not amused.
ReplyDeleteHow bout "BLACK CRACKER"?
ReplyDeleteIt is a wall salute to James White and the Blacks, aka, James Chance, aka, The Contortions.
ReplyDeleteAnd here I thought the EV was hip to its musical heritage. Sure - paint a wall with an image of some guy from a band from out of town, but do you honor the local greats?
This is a tribute to Norman Mailer's 1957 essay The White Negro. Not James Chance.
ReplyDeleteYou're all wrong. It's a tribute to sloppy vandalism.
ReplyDeleteApparently it has people talking. Mission accomplished.
ReplyDeleteWhatever stupid kid did this deserves to have his ears boxed and his playstation taken away for a week.
ReplyDeleteWAIT!!! Remember Dick Chicken???
ReplyDelete@Izf Wasn't Dick Chicken related to NeckFace?
