  1. Usually that's some type of shooting or they're looking for someone specific.

  3. Sirens and helicopters -- what is going on?? As usual, you have the news first...nothing on the telly.

  4. The police were searching for affordable housing, but they called off the search when none could be found in the area.

  5. They're looking for one of the neighborhood landlords who has caused tenants to live in decrepit and hazardous conditions.

    Hahaha. Just kidding.

  6. Yeah, that would never happen. Wondering what DID happen, cause it looks serious.

  7. They are looking for absentee landlord Jared Kushned, there are reports he is building a wall to keep out tenants who can't afford his high priced walk up tenement housing.
Press release from WM Apts- "let them eat cake"

  8. They are looking for residents not paying market rents.

  9. Supposedly a tenant talked back to a real estate developer so the cops were called.

  10. Operation Alphabet City

    - Four beat cops on each alphabet avenue (Avenues A, B, C, D) 12 to 5am daily

    - Four watch guards (auxillary cops with citizen's arrest powers like all of us have) on each block from 1st to 14th St east of Avenue A (a guard between A and B, a guard between B and C, a guard between C and D, and a guard who covers all three sections of a block and helps out on the alphabet avenues) same schedule (12 to 5am daily)

29200 total man hours for the beat cops @ 30 an hour = 876K

102200 total man hours for the watch guards @ 15 an hour = 1.533K

Total cost to have 72 law enforcement personnel (16 beat cops + 56 watch guards) in Alphabet City 12-5am every day of the year: 2.409M

Add another 481.8K if you want to make this from 11pm to 5am for 2.8908M total.

  11. Jared Kushner? Husband of Ivanka Trump. I'm SHOCKED he's a scum bag slum lord. His family and his in-laws are such reputable folks.

  12. Did this happen last night? Tacos Morelos doesn't open until 12. And from my reference isn't like a bar where staff will be there at 8am cleaning up last nights mess so who could have even been there so early? Seems fishy, maybe someone going for a safe. Not sure they operate with end of day cash. Hope no one who works there got hurt..

  13. I'd imagine they raided Taco Morales because they serve reasonably priced food and don't have a liquor license, both of which are now out of step with the neighborhood. They'll be allowed to reopen when they jack up the prices, have an all-you-can-drink brunch, and no matter what time of day it is, the person sitting next to you will always be the loudest, most obnoxious person possible.

  14. They were looking for an escaped convict that was hiding from the police.

  15. Their conchita pibil tacos are really, really good. I wouldn't endorse stealing their bucket of pork, but I'd understand.

  16. A newbie transplant saw a homeless person 9th street and notified New York Post, which then notified the po' po'.

  17. The police have switched sides and instead of working for the rich landlords and real estate developes they have now launched a neighborhood operation to round them all up and charge them with crimes against humanity.

  21. What a surprise! What an astonishment to find illegal guns in the EV/LES area! (Heavy irony and sarcasm.) Parts of this neighborhood are more heavily armed than places in Florida or Texas or did people not realize?
