Defunking defunct Funkiberry

Yesterday afternoon, workers removed the iconic Funkiberry signage from its former home of nine months at Third Avenue and 12th Street.

As previously noted, workers are renovating the corner space to make way for a pizzeria.

Thanks to Harry Weiner for the photo and headline!

So sad for all those who ruled the Funkiberry scene. Plus Lou's not around to write a song about them.

  2. Nine months - is that like a longevity record for a 'hey, i am the latest food craze!' store in the EV?

  4. The day that Funkiberry closed was the day that Midtown South died. And it hasn't been the same since.

  5. Wow, another pizzeria - I'm sure there won't be any herds of drunken woo-woo's in there at one or two in the morning. Right?

  8. Actually, when they were putting IN the Funkiberry signage, it uncovered some old signage for the "3rd Av Pizza" in a really cool 70s font... I took a couple of pix, I'll let you know when I find 'em Full circle!
