Tompkins Square no longer a park according to Google Maps

EVG reader Mike W. noticed this ... Tompkins Square Park doesn't exist on Google Maps for whatever reasons. (A quick check shows that Washington Square Park is still on the Map...)

Anyway, maybe the mayor's office sold the land to a developer and didn't tell anyone...

  2. Do you have a "before" picture? Maybe it was always this way.

  5. You have to really zoom in to see the park name. I mean REALLY, as in to the '50 ft.' zoom level. As you are zooming in, you do see different areas names: EAST VILLAGE, ALPHABET CITY. At one zoom level, the 'Please Don't Tell' business name is just above EAST VILLAGE - a cryptic message? You're right though - the park name should appear much sooner in the zoom.

  6. If you run it through the correct filters to eliminate the inherent parochialism and narcissism concomitant with being a desperate loser trapped in the sinking ship that is NYC, it looks just like Fresno, California.

  7. I have contacted google maps and edited the map using their tools to reinstate the parks name using official NYC parks Dept info and addresses
