Noted

First tag/graffiti/vandalization/etc. that we recall seeing on a LinkNYC kiosk since their arrival... this one is outside Gem Spa on Second Avenue and St. Mark's Place.

Or perhaps someone didn't have paper and was just jotting down some notes while making a phone call from the kiosk.

  1. I am surprised it took as long as it did.

  3. I miss the free web access they provided. I hope they find a way to bring it back.

  4. Why are these things go so HUGE yet the screens are smaller than an IPAD? They are like the obelisk in 2001. Is it all about the advertising?

  5. I'll bet that within 3-4 years these kiosks will be obsolete technology, and the ones that remain on the streets will be eyesores. We'll spend taxpayer money to get rid of them. Where oh where are our elected officials. Ah yes collecting their pay, but not doing much else. I would suppose that they have gotten campaign contributions from the companies that got the city contracts to install these kiosks.

  6. Obsoletely correct, @10:17. They should go with technology that does not age, like, I don't know, bicycles? Put up kiosks where several bicycles are parked, and, let people rent them.

  7. Studies on public health impact of Wi-Fi aren't conclusive because not enough long-term data has been collected yet; however Wi-Fi has been preliminarily linked to some serious health problems particularly among the 3-5% of the population whose nervous systems are thought to be more sensitive to this wavelength (which can disrupt electrical neural signals). The most serious suspected negative health effects from prolonged exposure to Wi-Fi signals include cancer and Parkinson's. Because of these suspected links, some health experts have referred to Wi-Fi "the new cigarettes": addictive and cancer-causing, and in need of firm regulation in the interest of public health.
