Scaffolding erected at soon-to-be-demolished 112-120 E. 11th St.

Workers yesterday finished wrapping up 112-120 E. 11th St. ahead of the demolition here between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue.

As you know, the five buildings recently purchased by the Lightstone Group are giving way to a 300-room hotel with Marriott International’s Moxy Hotels serving as the brand.

No sign just yet of any new building permits for the address. The Real Deal originally reported that the property will encompass 85,000 square feet.

  1. This is all happening so fast. Must be some shady dealings going on. The city is usually so slow to get things done unless there is money and corruption swirling around the bowl.

  2. For how quickly this deal went down, I personally believe a lot of $$$$ went into somebody's pocket(s). This is near-wholesale destruction of a huge chunk of an entire side of a city block.

  3. I really want to see BloomBlasio™ collapse before—not after—he leaves office. This is sickening.

  4. Yeah, this is super fast. Um, ELECTED OFFICIALS?? Anyone working on this? It's just weird how bad this admin is with land use issues -- and deBlaz and Co resolutely don't learn, don't improve. Unsophisticated hacks. Bloomberg was a mixed bag, we all know that. But his admin was SMART. I miss that.

  5. @11:16am: Bloomberg's admin was smart, but also very sneaky/underhanded. Had no use for us plebes. I don't miss that.

DeBlaz admin seems "off" - whether out-to-lunch, careless, crooked, I don't know. But it's not good.

Why is it impossible to get a sane & decent mayor & admin in this city? Why is everything about pay-to-play (essentially) - it's like government has forgotten that their constituents are all of us CITIZENS who actually live & work here.
