The owners of Bakeri, with locations in Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have just opened a cafe at 627 E. Sixth St. between Avenue B and Avenue C.
The East Village outpost — called Bakerita — carries Bakeri's homemade bread and pastries as well as Counter Culture Coffee.
And here's more about them, via the Bakeri website:
We opened in 2009 with the goal of bringing small batch, European-style bread to our community. We added a small café with homemade pastries and high-quality coffee. Our roots are from Northern Europe but our day-to-day changes depending on what we’re inspired by...
Bakerita is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday; and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.
Ohmigod, a place to actually buy decent bread east of Union Square? I'll be checking them out this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI wish them well, but the low foot traffic on this block works against them. The coffee shop there previously didn't seem to do much business. Betola, a coffee shop on 6th between A and B, opened in May 2012 and closed in May 2013. Their sign is still on the window. That space is now used by a construction firm, with people hunched over desks viewing blueprints.
ReplyDeleteBakeri is fantastic in Williamsburg and Greenpoint
DeleteWe are so lucky to hove them
Yesss!!!!
ReplyDeleteCute space. The baguette for $3 was good, but nothing compared to She Wolf. Other breads were pricey at $7 and $9, but what else is new?
ReplyDeleteSo excited to have this gorgeous coffee shop in our building.
ReplyDeleteEvery inch of this space was created with love,
Welcome Welcome 💕💕💕
I tried this place last week and was happily surprised. The coffee and pastry were very good, and perfect for a snack in the park. Friendly staff as well - I'll be back.
