ReplyDeleteBut will it light up and spin? Will it be asked to move off the moonscape when they Evil Corp hosts another adult finger painting jamboree? And where's Amanda Burden-Christ?! This blog has gone as soft as Trump's rock shrimp fingers.
ReplyDeleteMy world is back on axis
ReplyDeleteI got a little misty-eyed when I saw that bottom photo!!! Wow, I wasn't expecting to have such an emotional reaction!
ReplyDeleteCube be libre!
ReplyDeleteRefer to it by its proper name. It's now the Walgreen Starbucks Watson cube.
ReplyDeleteIt's got cameras inside WAKE UP SHEEPLE!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Cubito. I am glad they were able to spare the space for your return instead of designating it for a pop-up dandelion power shake store, or tiny bowls of cream of fingernail soup shack, or something equally useless.
ReplyDeletewelcome back little friend!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think this should become a religious object. Possibly a cult gathering around it-- and it does look extraterrestrial anyway.
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions for a name? Cubists?
Okay don't get too excited, there is a twin Alamo here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alamo_(sculpture)
ReplyDeleteNot sure if one is evil or not.
Are they building a wall around it.
ReplyDeleteSome of the comments so far are just plain asinine. The SCULPTURE is by Bernard (Tony) Rosenthal and it is titled, THE ALAMO. This is a great work of art that has captured the hearts and minds of millions of residents and visitors to the neighborhood since it's installation 49 years ago. Imagine that..it will be celebrating 50 years of public viewing next year. It has outlived the famous and infamous residents of the East Village. It is a visual landmark.
ReplyDeleteThinking people are pleased to see its return.
I saw the same cube in Porto, Portugal. It was great it had fake pigeon statues all over it. I think they are actually everywhere. CUBE™.
ReplyDeleteThere's an other cube by Rosenthal called Endeavor , on the U Michigan campus in Ann Arbor (he studied there).
ReplyDelete@11:21---don't be a pedantic asshole. we KNOW it is formally called "The Alamo" but locals since it was installed have called it the Cube.
