  3. Is Hoyt former? Or is he still a chef and/or co-owner at quintessence? Would like to eat there, but not particularly interested in supporting a perv.

  4. Anonymous 11.55, interestingly enough the designer and builder encourages multiple uses for the tables. In fact he asked me to give him any interesting or novel images I shoot.

To my knowledge, he's been on his own as "Raw Chef Dan" for several years now.

  7. Actually, I often cite Veselka's fabulous Christmas borscht as a prime example of why seasonality in food is a wonderful thing. I wait all year for it to become available, and I savor it while it's there. It would be delicious all year around, of course--but it's all the more special for being limited to the holiday season.

  11. Melanie/East Village Corner (3 Dec 7:41am): Veselka's Christmas borscht is a delicious vegetarian borscht with little mushroom dumplings, reflecting the traditional vegetarian Christmas Eve meal.
