Beyond Vape latest shop to depart St. Mark's Place



The sale continues at Beyond Vape, the upper-level shop closing at the end of the month at 19-23 St. Mark's Place...





I do not know why this store is closing, whether it's an unmanageable rent increase or ongoing e-cigarette competition on the block. (Or perhaps the new FDA regulations enacted last spring have made an impact.)

Beyond Vape opened here in late 2013. At that time, it was the growing chain's first East Coast outpost. Today, there are eight other NYC locations of Beyond Vape.

Grand Sichuan closed next door back in the fall. Other more recent closures on this block include Friterie Belgian Fries and Lab -320°.

    I believe there is a new smoke shop coming to Ave B btw 12-13th streets. It has the now typical 50 florescent lights ceiling along with shining metal and glass showcases. At least it's not another bar.

    All those vaporizers are so much cheaper online. I don't know how these places stay open when every kid has a phone that can get anything they want almost immediately.

    Vapeholes may be less noxious than they're old-fashioned cousins but they're more obnoxious, belching out their feckin gigantic plumes of thick white vapor everywhere they go like hookha smoking caterpillars, except the letters don't spell W-H-O A-R-E Y-O-U-? they spell I-M-A-D-O-U-C-H-E.

    I shed no tears when sterile, soulless businesses like that go out.

    That said, they are never replaced by anything substantive.

    Make way for another frozen yogurt shop. That ought to hit the spot on a hot day like today!
