Gutting the former M2M on 3rd Avenue

In case you missed our post from the holiday weekend ... M2M has closed at 55 Third Ave. after 15 years in business here at the corner of 11th Street.

However! The Asian-specialty story will return, eventually occupying some of the long-empty storefronts on Third Avenue and Ninth Street later this year. (For now, M2M is open at their location on Waverly Place.)

As for No. 55, workers are already gutting the space...

Wagamama will be building out the space for an outpost of the London-based chain of Japanese restaurants.

Previously on EV Grieve:
M2M has closed for now on 3rd Avenue; new storefront coming 2 blocks away

  2. Bye M2M, see you soon. As for Wagamama their Yelp reviews are not very good. Three stars overall for the Flatiron location is a red flag l. Food ranges from decent to forgettable to bland. The service sounds chaotic and slow. One reviewer could not even figure out what kind of food it was, but said it definitely wasn't Japanese. There is a lot of competition around here for good Japanese food . I give them 12-18 months on the EV Deathwatch.

  3. I love M2M and am happy they are staying in the neighborhood. Part of me is mad at Wagamama for booting them from their original spot but part of me is looking forward to eating at Wagamama. I do love their noodles. Kind of crazy that NYU is now renting those spots down Third Avenue that have sat empty for over a year. Why did they kick out the bubble tea shop and the other businesses?

    1. Mad at Wagamama? So it was them who put these spaces on the market for $25 million? Lucky for The Smith their lease runs far into the next decade.
