The circa-1860 townhouse on Seventh Street between Avenue B and Avenue C has emerged from behind the scaffolding and construction netting following a full-on gut rehab...

And now the all-new No. 189 is available as a single-family home. Here are the details via Sotheby's:
Upon entering this beautiful townhouse, there are 22-foot-high ceilings. Located on the first floor is a Poggenpohls custom chefs kitchen with custom Statutori marble countertops. The kitchen offers a fully marble covered island, along with a Six Burner Wolf Range, Miele Dishwasher, Viking Fridge and modernized ez-touch cabinets.
The 2nd floor is an open library and living room. The 3rd floor presents a one-of-a-kind open master suite layout with a separate standing shower on a class of its own. The vanities are a combination of top pieces from Ferguson, Kohler, and Restoration Hardware. The 4th floor presents two additional bedrooms, each personalized with their own all-marbled bathrooms and Porcelanosa vanities. At the top of the home lies a private oasis, roof decked in custom Runnen Tiles, along with a Calcutta Stone front ledge and Statutori back ledge.
Here are a few interior pics...
Price: $6.25 million.
No walls. The new cost cutting measure.
ReplyDeleteIt's really ugly from the outside, and why would they make windows so low
ReplyDeleteto the ground on the first floor for a residential home.
It made it from the 1860's just to be killed for something ugly.
This a really nice mansion, but I would have preferred it was a four apartment building more in character with the East Village I know.
ReplyDeleteWhat inane broker-babble! The place appears cloyingly trendy, especially the seemingly obligatory tub-in-the-middle-of-the-bathroom.
ReplyDeleteWhat a whole lot of sterile ugliness!
This place is a joke.
ReplyDeleteI've got more cabinet space in the kitchen of my cheap 1 bedroom rental than this $6.25 Million dollar house. Also, I've got an actual backsplash behind my stove.

The master bath is awful and the windows are terrible too as mentioned.
I seriously can't get over how bad this is. The windows look like cheap shit you'd find in a suburban development. AND there's no wall to separate the master bedroom from master bath.
ReplyDeleteTiny windows with fake panes, a lot of stairs to climb from the upper floor bedrooms to the kitchen, this should have been made into a double duplex. BTW enough with the white marble, check out the full listing to see what I'm talking about.
ReplyDeleteYet more urban blight. What is this fixation with everything being blinding white, sterile, and cookie cutter? What happened to imagination and individual vision?
ReplyDeletePretty silly if you ask me. $6 million to buy 1 apartment with no views?? People, it's all white so a buyer can picture things to their imagination and add colors to the walls when they move in. White can also make it appear bigger. Can't wait to see it listed on airbnb, which would be perfect for this listing with no other bitchy neighbors in the building complaining about strangers.
ReplyDeleteSo many sharp edges on which to impale oneself.
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen and bathroom are heinous.
Whoever buys this place will take out the kitchen and most likely the bathrooms and put in something better than this Ikea stuff. The builder knows this but having something "high end" looking but is not is better than and an empty white box.
ReplyDeleteI think the white facade is a travesty.
I don't care what anybody says, I want to take a bubble bath in that tub.
ReplyDelete2:33 me 2:D
ReplyDeleteSoulless, style-less and boooooring.
ReplyDeleteHideous. Something a coke dealer would buy.
ReplyDeleteFor all that money invested, you'd think they would come up with an elegant trash disposal system by the front door steps... nope... the buyer of this mishap project will come to know their neighbors very well... four legged little critters. gg.
