Sister Jane officially opens Friday on 13th Street
An EVG reader shared this photo from yesterday... showing workers putting up the signage for Sister Jane East Side Tavern on 13th Street west of First Avenue...
And just in time for a soft opening last evening ... before a grand opening tomorrow.
Later, EVG reader Samantha S. sent along a photo from inside...
Per Samantha: "Love it so far — the owner is so nice and the menu looks fantastic! Solid beer and wine selection. No cocktail menu (yet). Should be a good spot!"
Michael Stewart, a co-owner of Tavern on Jane at 31 Eighth Ave., is also behind this venture, a neighborhood bar/restaurant, in the former Redhead space.

Hey Grieve,
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify: Do they open Friday (today)? Or early this spring? Thanks!
Yes, Friday — today! The spring line was left over from the previous post on the place...
ReplyDeleteWent in this weekend. Great place, very welcoming, and seem to be looking to do right by the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteBrought a friend from out of town last night: not very crowded, which was nice. The service, though? Horrible. Friendly, but one of them stopped working to hangout with his 2 friends for 30 minutes at a table. The other one was MIA for most of the time chatting with other friends in near the back. We almost walked out without paying: if someone comes over to you and asks to get the cocktail menu back, that means they want more drinks. Instead of chatting it up for 20 minutes in the rear of the bar, go take their order. I'll never go back. Nothing about it was good enough to warrant a return trip.
ReplyDeleteI live across from Sister Jane. It's past 11.00 on a week night; they're having a loud party - and don't even have the consideration to close their street doors so we don't have to hear every scream and shout. And, to make matters worse, they don't answer their phone: it goes right to a machine that doesn't take messages. This is not being a good neighbor and very disappointing.
ReplyDeleteI will say that a while back, when they were having a loud party with blaring music, they did at last answer their phone and after they finally could hear what I was saying, did close the door and quiet down a bit. No such luck tonight, June 20th.
