Love the picture of the guy doing the voguing move, it looks like a mostly invisible person is doing a handstand on his arm.

ReplyDeleteI was standing on St. Marks Pl. between 1st. and A watching the parade. I wish the dance troupes would all come through one after another. Theres way too much of a time gap between them, like five minutes or more.
ReplyDeleteIt was good to see so many long time East Villagers. People were watching from their windows and firescapes. Some of the fratties were out on the firescapes with beer, but once the bottle of bourbon came out the cops yelled out to them, bring that inside.
Best in show; hula hoop troupe; house float; pirate float, stilt dancers:various troupes; Paul Taylor school; and others.
The best part was the house and techno dance party at the basketball courts, hosted by Frankie Bones and the Pirates. Great dancing, costumes, anybody could join in. It was joyous. I saw a lot of neighborhood people there.
The yuppies don't like this type of thing because they don't know how to communicate with anybody whose different than them. It's unfortunate that that's who lives here now, and who dominate the bars and restaurants.
Hey, how was the after party at Nublu? I went to the Barnacle Tavern and then Three Of Cups for dinner.

As the world explodes around us in unprecedented fashion and speed,,this rare explosion of joy reminds that I still love my city and really love my neighborhood. We can't stop crazy from being crazy, but we can enjoy who and where we are.
