Down at 1st

EVG reader William Klayer shares these photos from this morning at East Houston and the FDR along East River Park ... showing a tree casualty from yesterday's late-afternoon/early-evening storms that passed through the city...

The tree appears to have fallen roughly where first base is on the ballfield... (looks like field 4?)

  1. I passed by this morning also, the interior of the tree trunk is full of termites holes. Wind probably only helped it to brake.

  2. Does anyone know how the hawklets are doing?

  4. Sad for the tree, but a pretty badass way to go out! Trees have a way of making manmade shit look really flimsy and small.

  5. @Anon 11:48 - I went out in yesterday's rain (along with a few other people) to check on the young hawks and they were just fine, chilling in the trees.

  7. It looks like a feather could have knocked over that tree.
