Sunny's Florist off until after Labor Day
[Photo from April by Vinny & O]
Sunny's Florist is taking a break... the sign on the small space on Sixth Street at Second Avenue points to a vacation-renovation combo... with a return after Labor Day — specifically Tuesday, Sept. 5.
The shop, operated by Sun "Sunny" Ja Hwang and her son Edward, has been open now for 29 years.

A nice small shop run by very nice people. They have been beautifying our neighborhood and homes with their very special flowers and the smiles they have for everyone for a very long time.
ReplyDeleteIf it's a Korean name, 'Sun Ja' is most likely her first name.
ReplyDeleteSad that they will be closed for so long, since this is the premier flower spot when you want to impress someone you care about with a lovely bouquet of flowers. I am glad that Sunny and Ed are taking the vacation they definitely deserve.
ReplyDeleteFunny, one time recently I bought something there that cost $16 (if I remember correctly, a $10 bouquet and $6 vase). Out of my general appreciation for Sunny, I gave her a $20 and said "keep the change." She hesitated, as if offended by this suggestion. God bless working folks with tons of dignity!

ReplyDeleteMakes you proud to live here. Lovely people. Only use them if possible. The most gracious.
