Cleaning the Cube

[EVG photo from yesterday]

Last Wednesday night/Thursday morning, someone decided to tag/doodle on the Cube at Astor Place. The Village Alliance was able to remove most of the squiggles ... but some remained.

This evening, the Astor Blasting Squiggle Remover was out to clean off the remaining portion of the Alamo ... thanks to the readers who shared these photos...

  2. I wonder how much of the original paint is taken off by that power cleaning hose? Will they have to re-paint the Cube next year?

  3. Original paint? The original finish from 50 years ago is long gone. This sculpture has been defaced many times over its lifetime and will probably suffer more in the future from lowlifes with no respect for anyone or anything.

  4. I wonder how long until more stuff gets added to it again

  5. I thought tagging and graffitti was a part of the run down bombed out dangerzone of life in the city. I would take that over the snooty, drunk, priviledged, hipster, yupped out scum anytime. Everybody who laments the colonization of bohemia ought to allow for a bit of squiggle, maybe even some crustie action.
I'll be more worried when there is no more tagging/graffiti and no more homeless. Then it will be too late!
