Large horse head on the loose

[Photo from Oct. 21 by Derek Berg]

The large horse head that arrived outside Bonefade Barbers on Avenue A near Seventh Street back on Oct. 21 is now roaming around the neighborhood...

Some people (this thing is too heavy for a one-person job) apparently tried to steal it ... or maybe it was some kind of act of Halloween tomfoolery.

Anyway, they got as far as Ninth Street between Avenue A and First Avenue, as EVG reader Nancy Blum points out...

  2. It's pretty magnificent. Initially thought it was a copy of one of the four horses from St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, but it isn't. What's it made of? Is it heavy? I haven't seen it around.

  3. I walked by it on Saturday and stopped to admire it; the guy sitting in front of the barber shop told me it was for sale. I pondered the advisability of trying to wrestle it up five flights of stairs and crm it into my apartment and then, regretfully, abandoned the notion.

  4. I just spoke w Bonefade Barbers & told them to come pick it up. They had no idea it was on Ninth street.
