A studio has been on the market this past month on 14th Street between Second Avenue and Third Avenue.
Per the listing: "This unit features hardwood floors, a separate kitchen and room for a bed and small couch. Don't miss this opportunity to live just steps from Union Square for a below market price!"
That price is $1,895.
The listing promises a "separate kitchen."
More like "kitchen separated by the fridge."
On the positive side, it's a full-size fridge ... if you can get the door open all the way.
If there was ever a situation that demanded a mini-fridge instead of a full-sized one, this is it. On the plus side, this is one of the few apartments where you can literally cook pasta while sitting on your toilet.
ReplyDeleteI would like to say unbelievable but sadly I believe it.
ReplyDeleteNaive question, but how is this considered a legal apartment?
ReplyDeleteThis is the state of the market-rate apt market in the EV. IMHO,The city is crazy, how do service workers survive in Manhattan? Or said another way, how does Manhattan fill their service worker jobs? This is not sustainable.
ReplyDeleteWow, a window!
ReplyDeleteFirst you have to be able to constantly squeeze through, go sideways
ReplyDeleteinto ~the kitchen ~ with dishes, etc.
Do you have to move the fridge if you want to get stuff
all the way in ... ?
That place looks like a fire hazard.
It's a great deal if about 8 people share the space. I can sleep in the fridge easy.
ReplyDeleteSeriously who is the intended tenant for this apartment, a student who just can't stand the idea of a roommate? My guess is a dorm room would be cheaper and would include meals.
ReplyDeletePut the fridge on rollers and you can set it p in the living room as well in the summer, as a foot rest or alternate AC if there are no windows.
ReplyDeleteI could make this work. Mini fridge with a table island over it with stools. Single bed, small love seat, audomon with tray on it for a bit of “coffee table” surface. Floating book shelves. Hang some copper cookware and a low life plant in the kitchen. Wall mount a tv. Bathroom is nice size and it would be easy to clean. Being the winter hope someone gets this for closer to $1,500 than $1,900.
ReplyDeleteref Anonymous at 4:55: Audomon (sic) is correctly spelled OTTOMAN and named for the extinct Turkish Ottoman Empire (which perished with the Czarist Russian and Austro-Hungarian Empires after World War I) from whence the piece of furniture was copied. Sorry to be so elderly as to know this and to hate failures in language.
