Looking at Mani in Pasta on 14th Street

Mani in Pasta looks ready to start serving at 245 E. 14th St. between Second Avenue and Third Avenue ... (EVG regular Pinch saw some customers inside in what was likely a friends-family test run...)

This is the second location for the Italian restaurant. (The other spot is on 37th Street between Fifth and Madison.) Here's more about what they serve via Facebook:

The best Roman Style Pizza "Pizza al Taglio" but also Southern Italian Appetizers, Handmade Panini, Signature Pastas, Salads, Coffees, Pastries and Gelato...

You can find their menu and hours here.

Meanwhile, the letter spacing between the P and the A in PASTA has been corrected...

In recent years, the address was home to Mimi's Hummus, Wicked Wolf BBQ and Joey Pepperoni's.

  1. was looking at this place while riding by on the bus and thought, what an unfortunate name... i'd venture 90% of new yorkers walking or driving by will see MANI and immediately think it's a nail spot and move on. i certainly did until the word PIZZA also happened to catch my eye.

  3. Besides the name being unfortunate, take a look at the menu. The prices are insane. The neiborhood is too poor to pay those prices.

  4. The prices are ridiculous. They charge 2.99 for a coke. I can get 2 slices and a coke for that price. Who is going to spend that kind of money? These places don't last because they are too expensive. How long will this place last? 6 months? A year?

  5. @DrGecko - LOL! Thank you for pointing that out. Every time I see this place, I'm going to visualize an ugly hand in a bowl of spaghetti.

  6. Note the location info on the website: they think that 14th St between 2nd and 3rd is in Gramercy, which explains the Gramercy Park prices. Gramercy? Have they seen the crowd at the iHop at night? Boy are they in for a surprise. Hasta la Pasta, baby!

  7. Just walked by; they're open for business. The menu out front had some dishes that were fairly reasonably priced.
