The Kellogg's NYC Café on the north side of Union Square was scheduled to open on Dec. 7.
However, per this reader-submitted photo, the grand opening is now a week later — this Thursday, Dec. 14...
On the menu: bowls of cereal (there's a a DIY cereal-creation station) with a choice of milk, milkshakes, Pop Tarts and ice cream sundaes. (The cafe will collaborate with a variety of chefs and source ingredients from the Union Square farmer's market.) The cafe will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Per the cafe website, this is a credit-card-only establishment.

Kellogg's Union Square cafe closer to snapping, crackling and popping
This is the dumbest shit of all time. And that is the ugliest commercial building in the city bar none.
ReplyDeleteExpect more corporate food shops like this one around our main parks and squares. This place is aimed at tourists who love recognized brands and the kitsch of it all. Perhaps a "Pop Tarts" or "Hot Pockets" store will be next.
ReplyDeleteLong live the worst.
ReplyDeletere: Hot Pockets
ReplyDeleteGreat, it's out there now. Maybe Jim Gaffigan can cut the ribbon at the opening.

I'm still waiting for an explanation as to why Tony the Tiger has a blue nose.
ReplyDeleteOne of the all-time great EVG headlines. Huzzah.
ReplyDeleteChefs collaborating to make cereal. Eyeroll...
ReplyDeleteYou mean you cant mix this crap at home? You lazy bowlfuls
ReplyDeleteThis is vintage Hong Kong. Long live zoning and good taste.
ReplyDeleteI’m so glad that Kellogg’s is finally showing us how to correctly put milk on our cereal. My only question is will they be toasting the Pop Tarts or not?
ReplyDeleteThey'rrrre LATE!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't this belong (if at all) in Times Square instead?
ReplyDeletenear the m&m store.
This reminds me of the college cafeterias where there's "a DIY cereal-creation station) with a choice of milk, milkshakes, Pop Tarts and ice cream sundae". Same goes for Chopt, Burritoville, and the coffee shops... The EV is one big college cafeteria/student union/college campus.
ReplyDeleteMost of the new establishments in the EV are catered to the tourists, transients, college kids, and those who have graduated but still want to live their life as if they were still in college, in other words those who do not want to grow up. Hope, aside from accepting only credit cards, which, again, excludes most senior citizens and the poor, Tony the T also accepts NYU/New School/St. John's/Marymount College campus cash.
Wow, I can't wait to OD on sugar in the form of cereal & Pop Tarts. NOT.
ReplyDeleteDon't most people stop eating that stuff by the time they're in their late 20's? (Unless they are the current generation of kidults, I mean.)
To me, this is a tourist trap.
Protip: when opening a pop-up for tourists in the interest of your “brand”, spring for the first floor space!
ReplyDeleteI’m sure some VP got paid a small fortune for this lame idea, obviously born from a hangover in the cereal aisle.
ReplyDeleteI tweeted this thread to the Die Hipster.
ReplyDeleteIt's like a product placement joke from a really bad sci-fi movie.
