Yerba Buena, the Latin restaurant with a cocktail bar at 23 Avenue A near Second Street, closed after service this past Saturday... EVG reader Gacjon shares these photos... a note on the door for patrons states that the restaurant will reopen over on 205 Thompson St. in the summer...
Yerba Buena opened here in 2008. New York magazine's Robin Raisfeld named it one of the best new restaurants to open that year.

As Eater reports, a bartender who works at Yerba's sister restaurant, Toloache, sued chef-owner Julian Medina for sexual harassment last summer.
Thompson Street is NOT in the West village. It's in Greenwich village. West village is considered west of 7th ave South. Sometimes west of 6th ave. I can't tell u how many times this blog and others get that wrong
ReplyDeleteSad to hear this! I hadn't been in a while, but enjoyed it when I did go. My guy, who doesn't drink, was so pleased at one dinner when they graciously made him a terrific mocktail. Most places don't have such savvy and style.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Mike Lopez. There's nothing to argue about! In between, is Greenwich Village. No other opinions needed or reasons to have a thought beyond that. It's like the bro douche at Key Food yesterday who tried to tell me the express line wasn't real and I had to get on the automated line which was for both. HA. Stop arguing shit you don't know.
ReplyDeleteExcusez moi, but if you are on Charles Street, on Greenwich Avenue, or on the western part of Bleecker Street, you are still in Greenwich Village. How can you say that if you're on one of the 2 western streets in the Village named “Greenwich” that you aren’t also in Greenwich Village? If you are in Washington Square Park, you are also in the West Village, as opposed to the East Village. Greenwich Avenue runs over to 8th Avenue, which cancels out the theory that Greenwich Village ends and 6th or 7th Avenue. If the boundary between Greenwich Village and the West Village is that specific, how come no one can agree on where it ends? And how come there are 2 streets named “Greenwich” in the far western part of the West Village? The fact is most New Yorkers now call all of it the West Village, partly because so many tourists would ask,“”Where’s Greenwich Village?” while standing in the middle of Washingon Square Park that the name itself became a cliche for clueless and lost tourists. The same goes for 6th Avenue; only tourists call it the Avenue of the Americas. It’s like people calling southern Harlem SoHa; at least that’s what realtors and tourists are calling it now.

Have live in the West Village for over 30 years. If u are born and raised in this area and still think the WSP area is in the West village then shame on u.
